The eighth edition of the Euro-Arab Film Festival Amal, that will be held in October 2010 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, has launched its second call for entries. Entry forms and regulations are available on the website www.amalfestival.com. As a novelty, this year registration will be also held online. The final submission deadline is June the 15th.
May be submitted any fiction or documentary features or short films produced or co-produced by an Arab country, and those Arab-themed films, whatever their country of origin is. Films should be completed between 2008 and 2010.
Films selected for competition will be screened in several venues. The short films, both documentary and fiction, will be also broadcasted at www.amalfestival.com, as it happened in Amal 2009.
Amal is the only Festival in Spain focused in the Arab world, working with a strong will to become a meeting point for the dialogue between cultures. At over seven years, the Festival grew progressively, increasing its media impact and schedule of activities. Amongst those, a new project will be held to promote and spread Arab cinema beyond Amal Festival-Amal Seasons. Since March the 27thand untill May its taking place in Palestine with different screenings at An-Najaha University, in Nablus, the Educational Bookshop of Jerusalem, Dar al-Nadwe, in Bethlehem and the Balata Refugee Camp.

This project was launched to promote Arab culture through cinema and offers to institutions the possibility of programming cinema seasons, according to several categories such as country of origin, genre or subject matter.
